Uttar Pradesh Free Housing Scheme – Yogi Sarkar will take a loan of 3000 Crore rupees to give the poor and homeless families of the village free of cost. According to media reports, on receiving loan, 6.25 lakh rural households will get clearance for getting home. Only the poor families of SC-ST and other backward classes will get the house.
Government wants to Give More house before Lok Sabha Elections under Uttar Pradesh Free Housing Scheme
According to sources, the Yogi government wants to provide housing for the poor families of the village free of cost under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Rural (Uttar Pradesh Free Housing Scheme) before the Lok Sabha elections of 2019.
Details of Uttar Pradesh Free Housing Scheme
In fact, the financial situation of the state is not correct, therefore the government will take loans from Financial Institution, which provides loans like HUDCO. According to sources, loan proposal of 3 thousand crores in first phase is proposed. This will ensure the construction of 6.25 lakh houses.
About 9 lakh 70 thousand 108 housings are Allocated from Center
In place of the Indira Awaas Yojana by the Central Government, the total number of 9 lakh 70 thousand 108 housing has been allocated to the state till the end of the current financial year under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Rural, implemented from November 20, 2016.
In these 5 lakh 68 thousand 148 Scheduled Castes (SCs), 13 thousand 312 Scheduled Tribe (ST) and 3 lakh 88 thousand 436 general category (including minority and other backward classes) have been kept under Uttar Pradesh Free Housing Scheme.
Under Uttar Pradesh Free Housing Scheme, the cost of housing built of 25 sq.m area is 1.20 lakh rupees (1.30 lakh rupees for the Naxal affected districts), the Government of India provides 60 percent of the total cost of housing to the state.
Government Needs 4,657 Crore Rupees
In order to provide free 9 lakh 70 thousand 108 housing to the eligible beneficiaries allotted by the central government, the state government needs 40 percent of the state’s money as Rs 4656.52 crore.
According to the officials, at present, only Rs. 1051.44 crore rupees can be made available, only 2 lakh 19 thousand 049 houses can be constructed. 3605.08 crores for the construction of the remaining 7 lakh 51 thousand 059 houses.
The sources said that the proposal for taking loan from HUDCO by the Uttar Pradesh Rural Housing Council on government guarantee has been sent to the Rural Development Commissioner. HUDCO is ready to provide loans at an annual interest rate of 8.60 percent.
Once the proposal gets green flag, 6.25 lakh eligible families will get clearance for free accommodation.
24.43 lakhs eligible families
Under the scheme, those poor, disadvantaged and poor families living in rural areas are considered as poor families who are involved in social, economic and caste census 2011. Such 24.43 lakh poor families have been identified in the province.
The SP Government did Nothing
Minister of State for Rural Development (Independent Charge) Dr. Mahendra Singh said, “The Prime Minister’s housing scheme of the Center- under the rural people, SP government did nothing. We have now approved registration of 5.53 lakh beneficiaries and 3.85 houses. After getting the loan soon, the poor eligible families of the village will be provided free accommodation.
