1 Crore UPPCL Smart Prepaid Electricity Meters in Uttar Pradesh
UPPCL Smart Prepaid Electricity Meters – The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) will install 1 Crore Prepaid Electricity Meters in the state under the central government’s Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya Yojana. The Uttar Pradesh Government will install these smart prepaid electricity meters for minimizing the power theft and to increase the revenue.

The Uttar Pradesh government is focusing on providing electricity connection to every family under Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana / Saubhagya Yojana for ensuring “Power for All”. The total estimated expense for this project is Rs. 1375 crore.
This installation of 1 crore prepaid electricity meters a will bring a technological upgrade in meter readings. There will be a tracking device in these meters from which any consumer can track their actual consumption without manual recording. The main aim of the Uttar Pradesh Government is at providing electricity connection to over 4 crore rural families by December 2018 under Saubhagya Yojana.

The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) will install these smart prepaid meters in 13 districts of Uttar Pradesh with maximum line losses. These 13 Districts includes as follows –
The UP Power Corporation Ltd. will also provide the recharge facility of pre-paid meters in advance even with a small amount of Rs 50.

The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has already gave the tender of supply of 1 crore smart meters in the state through Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL).
The Supply of 1 Crore UPPCL Smart Prepaid Electricity Meters will takes place as mentioned below –
- Genus Power Infrastructures will supply 50 lakh
- L&T will supply 30 lakh
- Allied Engineering will supply 20 lakh prepaid meters
