CBSE Merit Scholarship for Single Girl Child

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched a scholarship scheme for the single girl child. The main motive of launching this scheme is to boost up girl education in India, to develop the condition of girls, to give some relaxation in school tuition fee, to promote single girl child. This scholarship scheme has been launched only for the girls of the government schools.

Benefits of the Scheme

Under this scheme, CBSE will provide a monthly scholarship of Rs.500 to the girls.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Only those girls who are the only child of their parents are eligible for the scheme.
  • Only those Girls who are studying in Government Schools are eligible for the scheme.
  • The girl should have scored 60 percent or 6.2 CGPA in her 10th boards.
  • Girl’s school fee should not be more than Rs.1500 a month.

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana

Keeping in mind the future and prosperity of daughters in India, the Government of India has brought “Sukanya Samridhi Yojana” This is a scheme launched by the government through which the daughters can get safe and bright future. This scheme is beneficial for families who can not complete the education of their daughter. This scheme was started on January 22, 2015 and it is a part of India’s most ambitious scheme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. To take advantage of this scheme, you have to open your daughter’s “Sukanya Samridhi Yojana Account” from 0 to 10 years in your nearest post office or bank.

Under this scheme, there is no strict minimum amount to invest. You can deposit as little as Rs.100. The account remains active until 21 years from the date of opening the account.


  • Annual interest at the rate of 9.1 percent on the amount deposited in the scheme’s account.
  • Parents must deposit Rs.1000 per month for 14 years only.
  • In 14 years, you will have to deposit only 1 lakh 68 thousand according to 1000 rupees per month.
  • Upon completion of 21 years of daughter’s daughter, you will be given Rs 6,41,092 in your daughter’s account.
  • If you are 18 years old, you can get half the amount of money (Rs. 3,00,000) from the bank.
  • Under this scheme, you also provided Income Tax Rebate

Eligibility Criteria

  • Girl’s age must be less than 10 years.
  • Opening amount of the account is Rs 1,000.
  • The maximum amount of 1,50,000 can be deposited in the Account annually.
  • You have to deposit the amount in the scheme’s account for 14 years.

Balika Samridhi Yojna

The Central Government of India had launched the Balika Samridhi Yojana on 15 August 1997. Under this scheme, all girls who are born on or after 15 August 1997 are eligible.  The benefits of this government scheme can be avail by the girls of both rural and urban areas.

Benefits of the Scheme

Under the Balika Samridhi Yojana, girls will get two benefits. First, a gift of Rs. 500 at the time of her birth and second, a fixed amount will be deposited in her account whenever she heads to the next class during her school days (till class 10th). Here is the list of monetary benefit for the girl child:

Eligibility Criteria

Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana

The State Government of Rajasthan has launched a new scheme named ‘Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana‘ to encourage girl child education and arrest female feticide. This scheme has been launched for the welfare of girls. This scheme was announced by Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje on the special occasion of International Women’s Day 8th march 2016.


  • Benefits of first installment Rs 2,500 to the mother of a newly born girl child by the respective medical center
  • After completing the 1 year of the girl child with all vaccinations done then the government provide the second installment of Rs. 2500 by check to the mother
  • The government will provide Rs. 4000 to girl at the time of admission in 1st standard in any public school in the state
  • State government provides financial assistance of Rs. 5000 for girls studying in 6th standard and Rs.11000 studying in class 11th and 12th
  • After successfully completed the 12th class, government provide financial assistance of Rs. 25000/-

Mukhyamantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana

The Bihar Government has launched a new welfare scheme named ‘Mukhya Mantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana’ to provide financial benefits to the girls of the state. Under this scheme, the girls belong to a BPL (below poverty line) families will be provided a financial assistance of Rs. 2000. This step will help to control female foeticide and focus on girl education in Bihar.

Benefits of the Scheme

This scheme will provide education benefits to a girl child and will also overcome sex ratio in India. Bihar government will invest an amount of Rs. 2000 in the name of a girl child in Child Carrier Balance Plan of UTI Fund.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The girl should be born on or after 22nd November 2007.
  • The applicant must be a girl.
  • The applicant must belong to a BPL Family.
  • Applicant’s age must be more than 3 years.
  • Applicant’s birth registration should be done within one year.
  • Only two girls in a BPL family can get the benefits of this scheme.

Mukhyamantri Laadli Yojana

The Jharkhand Government had launched the Mukhyamantri Laadli Yojana to provide financial assistance to make girls self-dependent. Under this scheme, the state government will provide interim payment during the various stages in her life but also receive a huge amount of Rs. 1,00,000 at the age of 21.

Benefits of the Scheme

  • The state government will deposit Rs.6,000 per year for a term of five years in the name of the girl child at post office savings account.
  • It will turn into Rs.1,00,000 at the time of maturity. This amount can also be  withdrawn by the girl at the age of 21 years. However, the girl should be unmarried till then.
  • Besides this, the eligible girls will also get the interim financial assistance of Rs. 2000, Rs. 4000, and Rs. 7500 while studying in class 6th, 9th, and 11th respectively.
  • Apart from this, when the girl enters into higher secondary classes, the state government supports her with Rs.200/month as a stipend money.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Girl must belong to the BPL (Below Poverty Line) family.
  • Girl must be born on or after 1st April 2008.
  • There should be only two children in the benefited family.
  • Besides this, the girl child must not get married before the age of 21 years.
  • The birth certificate of the girl child should be generated with the one year of her birth.

Mazi Kanya Bhagyashree Scheme

The Maharashtra Government has launched the Mazi Kanya Bhagyashree Scheme in April 2016. The main motive of the state government behind launching this scheme is to control the increasing population and promote girl child. Under this scheme, the state government will provide financial assistance to the benefited girl child at various stages during her life.

  • Under this scheme, the state government will provide a monthly amount of Rs.500 to the mother of the girls until the girl attains the age of 5 Years
  • Thus the girl child will receive Rs.3000 simultaneously. It will also be given for the first five years.
  • After the girls attain the age of 18 years, the state government will provide a total amount of Rs. 1 lakh to the girl.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Only Girls belonging to BPL Category are eligible for the scheme.
  • This government scheme is launched specially for the single girl child. If a second daughter takes birth in the same family, the amount will be distributed between both the girls. However, if a third child takes birth in the same family (irrespective of daughter and son), the scheme will become null and will be ceased.

Nanda Devi Kanya Yojna

The Uttarakhand Government has launched the Nanda Devi Kanya Yojana for the girls of the state. Under this scheme, the state government provides financial benefits to the eligible girl child of the state. Besides this, under this scheme, the state government provides benefits of huge fixed deposit amount to the girls at the time of adulthood.

Benefits of the Scheme

  • Under the Nanda Devi Kanya Yojana, the state government provides double monetary benefits to the girl child in her life. Firstly, an amount of Rs.5000 will be given at the time of birth of the girl child.
  • After that, a fixed amount of Rs.15000 is fixed in the name of the girl child and it will be given to the girl when she turns 18 years old or passes the class 10th examination.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Only the residents of Uttarakhand can apply for the scheme.
  • Applicant’s family’s income must not exceed Rs. 36000/month (for rural area) and Rs. 42000/month (for urban area)
  • Applicant must belong to BPL Category.
  • Under this scheme, only two girl child from the same family can avail the benefits.
