Tamil Nadu launching 50 ‘Amma Free Wi-Fi’ zones
This is the another people-friendly initiative, of the ruling AIADMK government in Tamilnadu.The State Government on Friday issued orders to set up ‘Amma Free Wi-Fi’ zones in 50 places across the state. It is important to mention that the state government had earlier introduced several people-friendly schemes like Amma Water, Amma Cement, Amma Medicine besides launching Amma Canteen offering food at subsidized rates with cashing on Amma Brand.
According to Amma higher secondary school and college students would also be given free access to Internet as per the poll promise.
Plan – In the first phase, 50 schools will be covered at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
Note that Jayalalithaa is fondly called ‘Amma’ (Mother) by her cadres.
Jayalalithaa has issued orders to construct an integrated IT complex, spread across 2 lakh sqft at the Electronic Corporation of Tamil Nadu Special Economic Zone in Sholinganallur at a cost of Rs 80 crore.The proposal to construct the complex was against the backdrop of exports from the Special Economic Zone constituting 25%, valued at Rs 16536 crore. 650 permanent e-registration centres will be set up by the Tamil Nadu e-governance Agency allowing people to access the services offered by government departments. “The Centres will be set up at a cost of Rs 25 crore,” .
AMMA e-Services Details
Smart phone users in Tamil Nadu can also get a range of government services through Assured Multi-Modal Access to e-Services (AMMA e-Services), Amma anounced
The government also said – 5 crore office facility will be built within the Tamil Nadu Virtual Academy campus in Kotturpuram to house Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency, Directorate of e-Governance and the Cable TV Corporation which are now operating out of rented facilities.
