Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Launched Smart Card Scheme for All Ration Card Holders
The launch of smart card was yet another example to show that this government was keen on continuing the schemes of Amma.Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamitoday launched the introduction of smart cards to all the ration holders in the State. Speaking after handing over the new cards to the beneficiaries at a function got up in the city, he assured that all projects promised and proposed by former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa would be implemented.
The launch of smart card was yet another example to show that this government was keen on continuing the schemes of Amma. Smart ration cards will be distributed to 1.89 crore ration card holders belonging to 34,840 fair price shops in Tamil Nadu. Out of the total 6.90 crore beneficiaries, aadhar details of 5.85 crore card holders has been already fed into the Smart Ration Card database.
The smart card scheme was being implemented at a cost of Rs 330 crore. He said with the introduction of smart cards, consumers no longer need to write physical applications for change of details, address and other things.
Providing good quality rice free of cost to consumers irrespective of their financial background. ”Even major rice producing States like Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal don’t have such schemes”, he said
