Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana – The Central Government has given the approval to continue Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana (SSSY) till 2020. This approval was given in the Union Cabinet Meeting chaired Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
What is Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana
Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana is a pension scheme which was specially launched for freedom fighters to give respect for their contribution in the national freedom struggle? However, this scheme was launched in 1980 and the provision was to continue this scheme every five-year plan which ended on March 31, 2017. Now, this scheme will continue till 2020.
Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana Objective
The main objective of Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana is to provide a monthly pension to freedom fighters who have given their contribution in the national freedom struggle. This pension will be provided to the eligible dependents like spouses and thereafter, unmarried and unemployed daughters and dependent parents. The central government will release Rs 2,552.93 crore for the continuation of SSSY during 2017-2020.
Eligibility Criteria for Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana
All the people who had given their contribution in the freedom fight they can know that who is eligible or ineligible for the pension under Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana.
Dependents of martyrs– Those persons who died or killed during freedom fight they are eligible for this scheme as per evidence.
Imprisonment– Those people who got imprisonment minimum imprisonment of six months (3 months in case of women, SC/ST freedom fighters) they are eligible for this scheme.
Underground – A person who lived underground for more than six months during freedom struggle he will eligible for this scheme.
Internment/Externment – Those people who had to spend more than six months in the home or out of the district during the participation in freedom, they are eligible for the pension scheme.
Loss of property -Those people who lost their property in the freedom struggle they are eligible for it.
Permanent Incapacitation – A person who becomes permanently disabled during firing or lathi charge in the freedom fight, he is also eligible for it.
Loss of Government Job – Those people who lost their government job or leave their jobs for participating in freedom fight they are also eligible for it.
Canning/Flogging/Whipping – A person who got the punishment of 10 strokes of caning/flogging/whipping during the participation in the freedom fight they will also consider for SSSY Pension Scheme.
Procedure for Apply Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana
Those people who are actually eligible for this scheme they can apply for it. The eligible person will have to fill an application form with required details, required documents and evidence.
Dully filled application form should be sent to the with required documents to the Chief Secretary of the concerned State Government/Union Territory Administration.
Besides, a copy of the application should be sent to the Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, FF Division, MHA, New Delhi as an advance copy.
The claim will be processed after the verification by the administration.
