Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Free Medicine Distribution Scheme in Madhya Pradesh, all the community health centers of the district, including District Hospital, have been started to ensure the continuous availability of minimum essential medicines to the patients of each class. Under the scheme, generic medicines are being distributed free of cost to all government hospitals.Normal people can go to government hospitals and they will be treated free of cost.

According to this free drug distribution scheme, prescription of generic medicines in government hospitals are being written by physicians and medicines are being distributed by medicines. In the event of non-availability of any drug stock, the nearest alternative medicine is available. Free medicines are being provided to the patients as per consultation with doctors.


As per the state government-run plan, the health department is sanctioned by the district and the division level under the state aid assistance fund. Health cards are issued under Deendayal Antyodaya Treatment Scheme. Under this program, pentavalent (one vaccine of five vaccines) is applied. Not only this, free medical check-ups, such as pathological investigations and availability of ECG, sonography, echocardiography and X-ray tests are all free in all government hospitals.

Under this scheme, all the facilities are provided to the general public. Free diagnostic facilities are being provided from district hospitals to sub-healthcentres.


For the patients coming to the clinics from free distribution centres established in hospitals in the free distribution scheme, this service will be available for OPD timings and for patients admitted in hospital for seven days and round the clock.


In case of any drug, the stock is not available, alternative medicines will be written.
