Samruddhi Scheme Karnataka – After the success of Unnati and Airavata schemes, the Karnataka Social Welfare Department has come up with a new scheme for the people of SC/ST category. The name of this scheme is “Samruddhi Scheme”. The Samruddhi scheme is launched for the socially marginalized communities for providing them with skill development and alternate means of employment.

The Karnataka Government has launched this scheme in order to boost the employment opportunities for the youth belonging to SC/ST through entrepreneurship. For this purpose, the state government is partnering with private enterprises to provide free training to the youth from backward communities of the state.
Details Of Samruddhi Scheme Karnataka
The Samruddhi Scheme is a rural entrepreneurship programme for Scheduled Castes (ST) and Scheduled Tribes (SC). The Minister for Social Welfare, Government of Karnataka Priyank Kharge launched this scheme on 30 October 2018. During the launching program, Priyank said “The government is planning to create ‘industry owned private enterprise’ to make them financially independent,”.
According to the Social Welfare Minister Priyank Kharge, the state government is collaborating with companies who have achieved financial status and market credibility. Once the training is complete, the government will provide the certification.
MoU With 30 Companies
For creating industry owned private enterprise, the Karnataka government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with 30 retail companies of the 62 which have shown interest. Some of the corporate partners who have already signed a MoU are Bata, BigBasket, Swiggy, Chai Point, Ola, Uber, Paragon, Classicpolo, Nilgiris, among others.
The 30 companies which already have signed MoU are going to provide self-employment opportunities for about 25,000 beneficiaries from the SC/ST communities.\
Benefits Of Samruddhi Scheme Karnataka
The Social Welfare Department has also set up a seed grant of up to Rs 10 lakh to help the beneficiaries for setting up their own franchises or retail outlets. Through this, there is a hope of creating 10,000 SC/ST rural entrepreneurs over the next three years.
Eligibility Criteria For Samruddhi Scheme Karnataka
Under this scheme, the selection of the beneficiaries will be done on on the basis of their qualifications. Here are the eligibility criteria for this scheme –
- An applicant must be a permanant resident of the state.
- Applicant must belong to SC/ST Category
- Age must be minimum 21 years
- Applicant must have an SSLC (10th standard) certificate.
Terms & Conditions For Samruddhi Scheme Karnataka
All the selected applicants will be given a time period of two months to show that they have the land or space for it, or have access to the same. After that, they will be eligible to receive the grant to start their own retail outlet.
