The State Government of Punjab and the State Government of Haryana has jointly started a new meal scheme named ‘Annapurna Akshaya Patra Yojana’ in Chandigarh union territory.

What is Annapurna Akshaya Patra Yojana

Under Annapurna Akshaya Patra Yojana, the state government has provide food to poor people at lesser cost compared to market.

Objectives of Annapurna Akshaya Patra Yojana

The main motto of the Annapurna Akshaya Patra Yojana is to provide nutritious diet to needy people in Chandigarh. In this meal package, government provides foods at Rs. 10 only included 6 Chapattis, vegetable and pickle to poor peoples of Chandigarh.

The main aim of this scheme is to provide affordable, hygienic and nutritious food to poor. At the present, a target of distributing 1000 packets of meal everyday and later it will be increased up to 10000 food packets every day.

Other Details of the Scheme

Tnion territories has established a kitchen at a total cost of Rs. 70 lakh for this scheme. The food packets will be available from 6pm to 9pm at 5 selected locations such as Sabzi Mandi, Sector 26, Labour Chowk, Manimajra, Labour Chowk (Near EWS Colony) Dhanas, Labour Chowk, Ram Darbar, Labour Colony Number 4, Industrial Area, Phase 1 in the city. The government has decided to spend Rs. 3 lack per month for 30,000 packets & the estimated cost is Rs. 70 lack for installation of machines for cooking the food
