Project Tejasvini Socio-Economic Empowerment of Women
The condition of women in India is very challenging. In today’s modern scenario also women depend on male for their needs. They are not given opportunities to complete their education or work out.
The World Bank has started with a project “Tejasvini” which aims at socio economic empowerment of Adolescent girls and Young Women in Jharkhand. World Bank approved US$63 million for this project. This project aims to support girls and women of the ages 14-24 to complete their secondary level education and develop relevant skills. It also aims to provide them training which are required for the job market.
This project will work at two important levels :
• Community Level
• Institutional Level
At community level there will be regular counseling of the young ladies. They will be given important information regarding skill education.
At institutional level it will work with the institutional partners and provide vocational trainings to these ladies. It will also give non formal education.
This project gives life skills education like soft skills , Health and nutritions , financial education and the most important their rights.
This project will work in uplifting the status of women in the society and making them economically and socially independent. It will develop their skills and make them competent to fight the competitions in the market.
This project will be implemented in 17 selected districts of Jharkhand and it is expected that atleast680000 adolescent girls and young girls will benefit from this project.
This is the first time that the World Bank has started with a project that only focuses on the welfare and upliftment of young ladies in India.
This Project will make these ladies independent and a responsible citizen of India. They will also be able to contribute their part in the development of the nation. It will help the girls to complete their education and take their own decision.
