ADC Surabhi Malik and District Program Officer Rupinder Kaur said that in order to take the benefits of the scheme, pregnant women will have to be registered in the nearby Anganwadi center within the prescribed period and issuing ‘Maa-Bachha Card’ from the nearest health center. Assistance will be given to pregnant women in three installments. Women being for the first time since January 1, 2017, can also take advantage of this scheme. This benefit will be available only on the birth of the first child.
The main motive of the state government behind launching this scheme is to provide partial compensation for the wage loss in terms of cash incentives so that the woman can take appropriate rest before and after delivery of the first living child. These cash incentives would help them to improve health seeking behavior amongst the Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW&LM).
