Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana – The Central Government is running its one of the most ambitious schemes i.e. Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJY). Basically, it is a term life insurance policy, which renews every year. Under this scheme, the insurance company provides Rs.2 Lakh to the nominee of the death of the insured person due to any reason.
Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana – Eligibility Criteria
- Anyone from 18 to 50 years can avail the benefits of this scheme.
- The concerned person should have a bank account.
- The policyholder has to deposit 330 rupees annually. This account will be directly deducted from the bank account of the concerned person.
- Under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, there is a provision of up to Rs 2 lakhs.
What is Enrollment Period?
This insurance scheme has a cover period from 1st June to 31st May. By May 14, 2018 5 crore 35 lakh people were insured under this scheme. Even so, 1 lakh 2849 people have received the claim. It has a life cover of up to Rs 2 lakh. Every year premium is to be deposited 330 rupees. In this, the risk cover scheme is only 45 days after the enrollment is done.

This scheme is operated through LIC as well as through other private life insurance companies. A person can also get information by going to his bank, many banks have tied up with the insurance companies. You can download the form through this website i.e. http://www.jansuraksha.gov.in and fill the details and submit it to the bank or insurance company. If an account holder has a savings account in more than one bank, he will be able to avail of insurance only once.
Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana – Claiming Process
The nominee will have to make a claim in the bank, where the concerned person’s insurance was. The death certificate must be submitted. Other essential documents will be given along with discharge receipts.
