Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana Punjab

The Punjab Cabinet Committee has given approval for implementing the Central Government’s ambitious health insurance scheme i.e. PM Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) / Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the state. According to the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, about 14.96 lakh families of the state whose name appears in the SECC 2011 data are eligible for this insurance coverage. But the Punjab Government has extended the central PM Jan Arogya Yojana to cover 42 lakh families.

Under the PMJAY Punjab Scheme, the state government will provide 5 Lakh Health Insurance to all the poor families for secondary and tertiary hospitalization. For this 5 Lakh health insurance scheme, any age, gender, family size criteria is not applicable and the beneficiaries are solely selected on the basis of deprivation.

Punjab PM Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) Health Insurance Scheme

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana Punjab is a mega health insurance scheme for providing a health insurance coverage of Rs. 5 lakh per annum to 42 lakh families in the state. Under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana Punjab, all the eligible beneficiaries can avail treatment in any government / private empanelled hospitals irrespective of the family size, age and gender. The premium amount for the health insurance scheme is NIL i.e the beneficiaries need not pay any premium amount to avail treatment benefits. The Ayushman Bharat Yojana health insurance scheme in Punjab would put an additional burden of Rs. 300 crore on the state exchequer.

In Punjab, about 1,350 medical packages including surgery, medical and daycare treatments, cost of medicines and diagnostics will be covered under this scheme in Punjab. The whole process for availing the treatment under this scheme would be paperless and cashless and appointed Arogya Mitras at the hospitals would assist people in the entire process.
