PM Awas Yojana Tamil Nadu – Govt to Construct 2 Lakh Houses
PM Awas Yojana Tamil Nadu – The Tamil Nadu state government will build about 2 Lakh affordable housing units for (EWS) economically weaker sections under the central government’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) at an expense of Rs 7,800 crore.

According to the sources, about 1.84 lakh independent affordable housing units would be constructed under Beneficiary Led construction (BLC) in which financial assistance would be provided to each eligible families belonging to the EWS Category to either construct new houses or enhance existing houses.
These independent housing units would be constructed at an investment of Rs 5,600 crore along with the subsidy of Rs 2.10 lakh per unit of Union and Tamil Nadu government.
According to the sources, the Central assistance would be directly credited to identified beneficiaries’ bank accounts through states. The assistance amount would be credited in three to four installments.
In order to ensure the quality of construction, the state housing department has to engage third-party quality monitoring agencies (TPQMA).
State Slum Clearance Board is also going to construct about 15,000 multi- storeyed tenements and 6,874 units through Tamil Nadu Housing Board.
