Odisha Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana

The Odisha Government is going to provide financial assistance to a total number of 13,000 families affected by cyclone Titli in 11 districts of the state under its ambitious scheme Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY). This information was given by the CMO Odisha (Chief Ministers Office) after a high-level meeting presided over by the CM Naveen Patnaik. Apart from this, the Chief Minister also directed the department for maintaining the transparency during the issue of work orders to affected families. The Odisha Government will allocate these houses to the eligible families at an estimated cost of Rs. 176 crore.

The Odisha Government will also take the assistance of local traders and self-help groups (SHGs) for preparing and supplying construction materials of houses. The state government will provide extra financial assistamce for all the SHGs.

Chief Minister Patnaik has also directed the officials to issue all work orders on a specific date in all blocks to the beneficiaries of the scheme. This step will make sure that construction of new houses is completed in an expeditious manner.

Odisha Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY) for Titli Affected Families

Under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana in Odisha, the state government will provide this financial assistance to all those 13,000 families whose houses were completely destroyed by cyclone Titli. Apart from this, the state government has also decided to avail the assistance of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for providing livelihood support to the affected persons. 

The Odisha government has directed the Panchayati Raj department to issue work orders by end of this month so that beneficiaries would be able to start work from December 2018.

The Panchayati Raj Department will ensure that the construction work of the houses will be completed within 6 months from the date of getting the work order. Under this scheme, the state government will provide a financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh to families from state disaster response fund. 

The state government has already distributed Gratuitous relief (GR) to all the affected families in both districts i.e. Ganjam and Gajapati district. So far, about Rs. 249 crore GR has been distributed in Ganjam whereas Rs. 50.33 crore has been disbursed in Gajpati district. Apart from this, the government has also released the House building assistance of Rs. 191 crore and Rs. 8.27 crore.
