National Health Protection Scheme – The Finance Minister of India Mr. Arun Jaitley has announced the Union Budget 2018-19. under this budget, Minister Jaitley announced the launch of a new flagship National Healthcare Protection Scheme for providing a health coverage to the underprivileged families.

National Health Protection Scheme

The main motive of the government behind introducing this scheme is to provide a health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per family every year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. Besides this, this scheme will also cover 10 crore families, benefitting more than 50 crore people.

Under this scheme, the central government will establish about 1.5 lakh health centres to “bring healthcare closer to home”. These centres will provide healthcare support for non-communicable diseases, maternal and childcare services, along with free drugs and diagnosis. The finance minister set aside Rs 1,200 crore for the same.

Health Protection for 10 Crore Families
“In the National Insurance Scheme, poor families have been included and many State Governments have also helped in this. We are introducing the National Health Protection Scheme, 100 million poor and needy families will be added. The family will be given every year, this is the biggest step taken by the government in behalf of the health. “
– “The Ayushman Bharat program will help in the completion of the mission of New India in 2022. These two schemes will create millions of jobs, we are moving forward towards universal health coverage. All the TB patients are offering Rs 600 crores for support. “
1200 crores for Health Wellness
– “Only healthy India can become a prosperous India, there are two major steps in this direction: 1.5 lakh health centers were built, these centers would be close to the people so that people could get free medicines and check-up. Health will be kept for the Wellness sector. We all know that millions of rupees are spent on the treatment of millions of families. “

Apart from this, a total amount of Rs 600 crore will be sanctioned for providing nutritional support for tuberculosis patients.
