Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme – The state government of Punjab has introduced a new scheme Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme for providing better education for girls in the state. In this scheme, the government will provide free bicycles to girls to the go for schools. These bicycles will be given to the those girls who are studying in 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th in the government schools.
What is Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme
This is a sarkari yojana of Punjab Government which is launched on the name of a Brave Sikh Woman Soldiers who were fight with Mughals in 1705. The government has launched this scheme specially for girls in Punjab to improve the education level in the society. Most of the girls drop their schooling after 8th class because their schoold is so far from their home and they are not able to go for school without any vehicle. Most of the families are very poor who cannot afford bicycle for their doughter to go for school. With the help of this scheme, the government will provide them free bicycle to go for school.

Objectives of Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme
The main objective of this scheme is to launch to improve the education status of girls in Punjab state. However, the scheme was launched in 2011-12 but the government will continue this scheme for the welfare of the girls. This scheme will encourage the girls to get education for their bright future. It will improve the education level of girls in the state and reduce the dropout ratio of girls from the schools.
Benefits of the Scheme
- According to the scheme 9th ,10th , 11th and 12th class girls will get free bicycles
- It will improve the education status of girls in the society.
- The girl student must be a permanent resident of Punjab.
- The girl must be a student of 9th ,10th , 11th and 12th class of government school.
- Only BPL family girls are eligible for this scheme.
- Aadhaar card
- Resident proof
- BPL Ration Card
- Caste certificate if applicable
- School certificate
The eligible girl students can apply for this scheme they will have to visit their government school or collage head master/principal. Besides, they can also visit education officer in related Districts/Taluka in Punjab.
