Maharashtra government to provide Hostel fee under Punjabrao Deshmukh Scheme


Punjabrao Deshmukh Scheme Hostel fee free to poor

State government of Maharashtra has decided to launch a new scheme to encourage and support students for higher education for poor students. The scheme  has been named as “Punjabrao Deshmukh Scheme”. This scheme aims to provide hostel fee to the children of poor farmers and registered labourers.

Main objective of the Punjabrao Deshmukh Scheme

The main objective of the Punjabrao Deshmukh Scheme are to

  • Encourage financially weaker students to pursue higher studies in Mahrashtra.
  • State government will financially help the students by paying their hostel fee.


  1. Students pursuing any professional courses such as engineering, medical or any other recognized course will be eligible to avail the scheme benefits.

Maharashtra government has made a budgetary provision of Rs. 1000 crore for implementing these education sector scheme for the current year.

    Is it for private engineering college also ?
    I talked to our “Vishwakarma Institute of Technology,Pune” office they said there is no such scheme in college.

    I want to pursue my CA education in pune.I m from dhule.I cleared my cpt entrance exam from dhule.Am I eligible for this scholarship?
