Maharashtra CM Distributed Free Gas Connections under PM Ujjwala Yojana
The Maharashtra Cheif Minister Devendra Fadnavis has distributed Free LPG Gas Connection under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) during a function which was held on Friday at Kasturchand Park. Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, Nitin Gadkari will preside over the function.
The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmedra Pradhan was the special guest of the function while Maharashtra Minister for Food and Civil supply, Consumer Protection, Food and Drug Administration Girish Bapat, Energy Minister and Nagpur Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule was also present on this occasion.
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1st May 2016 in Ballia in Uttar Pradesh. The government has targeted to provide 5 crore LPG connections for BPL families with the financial support of Rs 1,600 per connection in the next three years.
The main aim of the scheme is to provide a clean cooking fuel-LPG to secure women and children health. By providing this facility, the women will have not to compromise their health in in smoky kitchens or wander in unsafe areas collecting firewood.
The government target is to provide 1.5 crore LPG gas connections to the women beneficiaries in 15 different states – Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab. At present more than 1.43 crore women of BPL households have benefited under the scheme.
