Madhya Pradesh Govt. to Launch Social Security Pension Scheme for Widows
On Wednesday, the annual budget was presented in the state (MP) assembly. According to the budget, all categories of widows in Madhya Pradesh will be permitted to avail the Social Security Pension Scheme.
During presenting the budget for the financial year 2017-18, Finance Minister Jayant Kumar Malaya said that the amount paid under the Social Security Pension scheme had also been increased to Rs 300 from Rs 150. Minister informed that the decision had been taken in view of the poor economic condition of the widows in the society
The widows, who are either gainfully employed or already availing other family pensions will not be eligible for the scheme. Detailing the budgetary allocation for the scheme, Malaya said that Rs 1,501 crore has been allotted for the social security scheme.
The budget also proposes to raise allocations for better irrigation capacity, improving education and medical facilities, better funding for social welfare schemes for the poor and enhancing the network of roads in the state.
