Kerala Maternity Benefit Programme – The Kerala Social Justice Department has come up with a new scheme for the pregnant women of the state. The scheme has been named as “Kerala Maternity Benefit Programme (MBP)”. Under this scheme, the state Government will provide financial assistance (cash assistance) of Rs. 5000 to Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW & LM) on the bierg of the birth.

Through this scheme, the Kerala Government aims at improving health-seeking behavior and nutrition among Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers. Besides this, through this scheme, the state government will also reduce effects of under-nutrition such as stunting, wasting & other problems. Under this scheme, the Kerala Government will benefit 1 total number of 1.42 lakh pregnant mothers in the state. All the interested applicants have to make online registration to avail the benefits of this scheme.

For easy access to the benefits of this Maternity Benefit Programme to the general public, the state government will use the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) platform.  It will also be used for the proper implementation of the scheme.

Apart from this, the State Government has also sanctioned Rs. 34.34 crore for this Maternity Benefit Scheme.
