Karnataka Mathru Purna Scheme for 12 Lakh Pregnant Women
Karnataka Mathru Purna Scheme – The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah launched the ‘Mathru Purna Scheme’. The main motto of the state government behind launching this scheme is to provide nutritious meals to about 12 lakh pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Details of Karnataka Mathru Purna Scheme
The motive of the Karnataka Government is to reduce under-nutrition among women and children.
During the launching program of the scheme, the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that under this scheme, counseling and other maternity benefits will be provided at the Aanganwadis.
For Mathru Purna Scheme, the state government has sanctioned a total amount of Rs 302 crore during the financial year 2017-18 financial year for the implementation of the scheme throughout all the 30 districts of Karnataka.
As per an official release, one hot cooked meal consisting of rice, dal with leafy vegetables/sambar, a boiled egg/sprouted legumes along with 200 ml of milk would be provided to women for 25 days a month.
The statement further stated that despite the Supplementary Nutrition Programme, the development in the maternal and child health indicators of Karnataka has been slow compared to the rest of the south Indian states.
Apart from this, the ‘Mathru Purna Scheme will also provide benefits to the Aanganwadi workers of the state.
