The Jharkhand Government is going to launch a new scheme for the farmers of the state. The name of this scheme is Jharkhand Free Mobile Phone Scheme. Under this scheme, the state government will provide free smartphones to 28 lakh farmers as Diwali gift. Through this scheme, all the farmers of the state will be able to connect to the e-NAM portal and directly sell their produce. Jharkhand Government’s this ambitious scheme will realize the PM’s vision of Digital India.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that said that the farmers must accept the invitation of the state government and must become the brand ambassador of Agriculture and Food Summit which will be organized on 29 & 30th November 2018. The main motive of this summit is the overall development of the farmers and as a whole of the agricultural sector.
Latest Agriculture Technology For Farmers
Through these smartphones, the state government will able to transfer the latest agriculture and other technologies within the farmers. The Jharkhand Government will implement this free smartphone scheme in the state following the lines of other state’s free smartphone scheme.
Jharkhand Free Smartphone Scheme for 28 Lakh Farmers
The Jharkhand Government is going to launch a Free Smartphone Scheme for providing free mobile phones to about 28 lakh farmers across the state. The State Government will make the official announcement of this Free mobile Scheme in Jharkhand will take place in the next budget i.e 2019-20. Through this scheme, farmers of the state will be able to connect to e-NAM which is an online trading platform for agriculture commodities in India.
The e-NAM market provides online trading facility to farmers, traders and buyers in commodities. It is also helpful in better price discovery and provides smooth marketing facility of their produce. Recently, the Jharkhand Government sent several farmers to Israel so as to enable them to learn to maximize their farming activities with limited resources.
As we all know that the Agriculture sector is the largest contributor to the economy and the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country. It involves over 50% of the total population in India and generates direct and indirect employment which is essential for the growth of the economy.
Therefore, it is the responsibility of the state government to ensure hi-tech facilities and technology to farmers, make them learn about modern practices for improving the quality and quantity of the forest produce.
Thus, the Jharkhand Free Mobile Phone Scheme is a major step towards the overall development of farmers and the entire agriculture sector. This free smartphone scheme will also realize the vision of “Doubling Farmers income by 2022”.
