ITR Form-1 Online Filling Process – The Income Tax Department has recently introduced e-filing for the assessment year 2018-19 for the eligible persons for filing income tax return (ITR) or ITR Form-1 (Sahaj) for the financial year 2017-18.

ITR Form-1 (Sahaj) – List of Changes

The person who earns money from the salary or property of a house or other sources of up to Rs 50 lakh, has to fill ITR-1 form. However, this time, ITR Form-1 (Sahaj) has been notified with many changes. Let’s know about the changes made.

  • Now ITR-1 is applicable only to residents.
  • The details of income from pay, i.e. complete breakup, is necessary.
  • Details of income from home property should be mentioned.
  • If the IT returns are filed after the due date, the charge will be 234F.
ITR Form-1 Filling Process

There are two ways to fill ITR Form-1 i.e. Offline Mode and Online Mode. We have provided guidelines regarding both the modes –

ITR Form-1 Online Filling Process – Offline Mode
  • In the case of offline filling of ITR Form-1, the return will be submitted in the paper form. Apart from this, While depositing your physical paper returns, the Income Tax Department will issue you a receipt.
  • But, according to the Income Tax Act, only the following persons have the option of filing an IT return in the paper form:
  • # Extremely Citizens, i.e. 80 Years or More
  • # Individual / Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) whose returns have no claim of refund in return of income and whose income is Rs. 5,00,000.
ITR Form-1 Online Filling Process – Online Mode

 

If you are willing to fill the Income Tax Return Via Online Mode, then there are two options –

  • Be prepared and fill the ITR
  • Upload xml via Offline Mode
Fill Online ITE Via Official Website of Income Tax Department

 

  • Firstly, visit the official website of Income Tax Department e-Filling Website i.e. incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in 
  • Log in here by entering your user ID, Date of Birth (DOB), and Captcha.
  • After that, click on “Filing of Income Tax Return” option.
  • Select the ITR form name, assessment year and submission mode. (Prepare and submit online)
  • Fill in the details and click the ‘Submit’ button.
  • Your ITR has been successfully submitted and ITR-V will be generated. Click on the link and download it because it acts as an acknowledgment. ITR-V is also sent to your registered email.
Upload XML Using Offline Utilities
  • Firstly, visit the official website of Income Tax Department e-Filling Website i.e. incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in 
  • On the Homepage, click on ‘Offline Utilities’ option given on the right side.
  • After that, click on “Income Tax Return Preparation Utilities “.
  • Select the assessment year for which you want to fill ITR.
  • Then download the offline utility through which you want to e-file your ITR (Excel Utility or Java Utility)
  • Prepare the returns offline and upload the generated XML through these utilities on the option of “filing income tax return” on the Income Tax website.

Note – After filing income tax returns, do not forget to e-verify your return within 120 days of filing it to complete the return filing process.
