Haryana Smart Electricity Meters – The Haryana Government led by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Manohar Lal has approved the installation of 10 lakh smart meters in five districts of the states.

The main motive of the state government behind this decision is to improve the financial condition of power distribution companies by promoting energy conservation and solving the issues related to the payment of electricity bills.
5 Districts To Be Covered in First Phase
Here is the list of the five districts in which electricity meters will be replaced with smart meters by EESL –
To improve the poor system of power supply and power corporations, the Haryana government, which has taken up the debt of Rs 25, 950 crore, has stepped up the important step towards bringing revolutionary changes in the system.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Uday Yojana, which was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reduce power transmission and commercial loss, old power meters will be replaced with a smart meter. After the successful implementation of the scheme for installing 10 thousand meters in Haryana in Panipat, it has now been prepared to increase it to several districts of the state.

- The new smart meters will be equipped with GPRS facility.
- Installation of these smart meters along with its associated GPRS system would access the electricity distribution companies to get real-time data on usage.
- Due to the two-way communication, the bill will be sent to the consumer on mobile by reading the smart meter readings from the sub center itself.
- In this system, consumers will be relieved of the dizziness for getting flawed bills and recovering them and will be available for payment on time.
