Gobar Dhan Yojana (Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resource Money Scheme)

Gobar Dhan Yojana – Center has announced the launch of Gobar-Dhan (Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resource Money) Scheme to free the villages from the open defecation and to improve the lives of the villagers. Under this scheme, concrete residues of cattle dung and fields will be converted into compost, bio-gas and bio-CNG.

Shri Jaitley said that under the vision of inclusive society creation, the government has identified 115 districts for development. In these districts, the pace of development will be accelerated in a certain period by investing in health, education, nutrition, irrigation, rural electrification, drinking water, access to toilets etc. The Finance Minister said that these 115 districts will be the model of development.

Open Defecation Free Villages
The main motto of Gobar Dhan Yojana is to make open defecation free villages throughout the country. Over 4400 villages located at riverside areas have been declared as open defecation free villages. With the implementation of the scheme, more villages will become open defecation free.
Budget Allocation for Gobar Dhan Yojana

A total amount of Rs. 16, 713 Cr has been sanctioned for village improvement programs. According to the records, a total number of 115 districts have successfully implemented various village improvement programs and open defecation free livelihood. These districts will be considered as the indication of the development of the villages.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the said budget while presenting the budget of 2018-19 in Parliament on Thursday. In his budget speech, he said that 187 projects have been sanctioned under the Namami Gange scheme for infrastructure development, contrary surface cleaning, rural sanitation etc. at a cost of Rs. 16,713 crore. Of these 47 projects have been completed. Work on remaining projects is underway. He said that 4465 Ganga villages, situated on the banks of river Ganga, have been freed from the open in the open.
