CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has started a scholarship scheme for the single girls of the state. Under this scheme, CBSE provides scholarship to the single girl students of the state. The main motive of the government behind launching this scheme is to promote girls ‘education in India, develop girls’ status, give some relaxation in school tuition fees, promote single girl. This scholarship scheme has been started only for girl students of government schools.


Under this scheme, CBSE will provide monthly scholarship of Rs 500 to girls.

Eligibility Criteria

§  Only those girl students are eligible for the scheme who are the single daughter of their parents.

§  Only girls studying in government schools are eligible for this scheme.

§  Girls who will get 60 percent or 6.2 CGPA in their 10th board exam are eligible

§  The monthly fee of th girl student must not be more than Rs. 1500

 Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana – Girls Government Schemes India

Keeping in mind the future and prosperity of daughters in India, the Government of India initiated the “Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana”, it is a scheme introduced by the government through which daughters can get a safer and bright future. This plan is beneficial for families who cannot complete their daughter’s education. The scheme started on January 22, 2015 and is a part of India’s most ambitious plan ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme. To take advantage of this scheme, you will have to open an account under your daughter name under “Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana”, which you will have to open for the girls from 0 to 10 years in your nearest post office or bank.

Under this scheme, there is no minimum deposit amount. You can deposit minimum Rs. 100 in the account. The account remains active from its opening to 21 years.


·        Under the scheme, interest will be available at the annual rate of 9.1 percent on the amount deposited in the account.

·        Parents must deposit 1000 rupees per month for only 14 years.

·        In 14 years, you have to deposit only 1 lakh 68 thousand per month as per 1000 rupees.

·        Upon completion of 21 years of daughter, you will be given Rs 6,41,09 in your daughter’s account.

·        If you are 18 years old, you can get half the amount (Rs. 3,00,000) from the bank.

·        Under this scheme, you also get relaxation in Income Tax.

Eligibility Criteria

§  Girl’s age should be less than 10 years.

§  The account opening amount is 1,000 rupees.

§  The maximum annual amount can be credited to the account is Rs.  1,50,000

§  You have to deposit the amount in the scheme account for 14 years.

 Balika Samriddhi Yojana

The Government of India started the Balika Samruddhi Yojana on August 15, 1997. Under this scheme, all girls born on August 15, 1997 or later are eligible. The benefits of this government scheme can be obtained by girls from both rural and urban areas.

Under the Balika Samruddhi Yojana, girls will get two benefits. First of all, the gift of 500 rupees at the time of his birth and secondly, whenever he goes to the next class during his school days (till class 10), a certain amount will be credited to the girl’s account.

The State Government of Rajasthan has started a new scheme called Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana’ to encourage girl child education and to stop female feticide. Benefits of Mukhyamantri Rajashri Yojana

Under this scheme, the state government provides financial assistance over 50,000 to the eligible girls from their birth till they pass 12th class. This assistance is provided to the girls at several stages.

Mukhyamantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana – Girls Government Schemes India

The Bihar government has introduced a new welfare scheme named Mukhyamantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana’ to provide financial benefits to the girls of the state. Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 2,000 will be provided to those families who are classified below BPL (below poverty line). This step has been taken to control women’s discrimination and focus on girl education in Bihar.

Benefits of Scheme

This scheme will provide education benefits to a girl and also improve gender ratio in India. The Bihar government will invest Rs 2000 in the name of a girl in the UTI fund’s Child Career Balance Plan.

Eligibility Criteria

§  The girl should be born on or after November 22, 2007.

§  The applicant should be a girl.

§  The applicant should belong to the BPL family.

§  Applicant should be more than 3 years old.

§  Birth registration of applicant should be done within one year.

§  Only two girls in the BPL family can get the benefit of this scheme.

Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Ladli Yojana – Girls Government Schemes India

The Jharkhand government launched the Mukhyamantri Ladli Yojana to provide financial assistance to make girls self-reliant. Under this scheme, the state government will provide financial assistance to girls during various stages of life. Under this scheme, the state government provides a total amount of Rs. 1,00,000 in the age of 21 years.


§  The state government will deposit Rs. 6000 every year in the savings account of the girl child for a time period of 5 years.

§  At the time of maturity this amount will be Rs. 100,000 lakhs. This amount can be withdrawn by the girl at the age of 21. However, by then the girl should be unmarried.

§  Apart from this, eligible girls will get interim financial assistance of 2000, 4000, and 7500 rupees during study in classes 6, 9 and 11 respectively.

§  Apart from this, when the girl enters high secondary classes, the state government supports her 200 rupees a month as a scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria

§  The girl should belong to BPL (below the poverty line) family.

§  The girl should be born on or after 1 April 2008.

§  There should be only two children in the beneficiary family.

§  Apart from this, the girl should not get married before the age of 21.

§  The birth certificate of the girl should be made within one year of her birth.

The Government of Maharashtra has started Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana in April 2016. Following the launch of this scheme, the main purpose of the state government is to control the growing population and promote girls. Under this scheme, the State Government will provide financial assistance to the eligible girl at various stages of age.


§  Under this scheme, the state government will provide a monthly income of Rs 500 to the girl’s mother till the girl reaches the age of 5 years.

§  Thus girl gets Rs. 30000. This amount will be given in the first five years.

§  After the girls are 18 years old, the state government will provide Rs. 1 lakh to the girl.

Eligibility Criteria

§  Only Girls of BPL category are eligible for this scheme.

§  This government scheme has been specially launched for a girl. If a second daughter is born in the same family, the amount will be distributed among both girls.

§  After that, a fixed amount of Rs. 15,000 has been fixed in the name of the girl and when she becomes 18 years old or if she passes the 10th standard exam then the girl will be given this amount.

§  The income of the applicant’s family should not exceed 36,000 / month (for rural area) and 42000 / month (for urban area).

§  The applicant should belongto the BPL category.

§  Under this scheme, only two girls can benefit from a family.
