Delhi Mission Buniyaad – The state government of Delhi led by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. Arvind Kejariwal has come with a new education scheme named ‘Delhi Mission Buniyaad for Students’. Under this scheme, the state government will check the learning outcomes of several schools which are run either by the state government or by Municipal Corporations. Besides this, the state government will appoint mentors to monitor the performance of children studying between III standard to VII standard. Apart from this, each mentor will perform this task for 5 schools.

This scheme will be designed and executed by the state government along with MCDs and other local bodies. The state government will design this scheme on the basis of Chunauti Scheme. Delhi Government’s Missions Buniyaad scheme will resolve the issue of learning crisis in schools. Besides this, the state government will initiate this scheme from April 2018.

Apart from this, the state government will try its best for providing training to teacher/learning outcome coordinators. This scheme will make sure that all the students are able to read their grade level textbooks.

In the campaign, children from class III to to five will be included in the campaign. Children’s knowledge will be assessed by taking the first test. On the same basis, children will be strengthened by putting separate classes. Education Minister Manish Sisodia, while announcing the campaign on Monday, admitted that half of the class six to eight students in the schools of Delhi could not read their books properly. They do not even have the general knowledge of mathematics.

To improve the level of education of the children of government schools, the Delhi government has run other programs including the Reading Fair, 2018 and 2017 under the Challenge 2018. This included children from class six to eight. But this campaign has proved to be a flop. According to National Achievement Survey of National Academic Research and Training Council (NCERT) National University of Achievement 2017, 50 percent of the schools in the local body, including the Delhi government, are poor in reading and mathematics. Now the mission foundation will start for them. In this mission, children of Delhi Municipal Corporation, New Delhi Municipal Council and Delhi Cantonment Board will also be included. At the same time, now teachers of the Government of Delhi will be appointed as teachers in bodies of teachers on the lines of schools.
