Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana Odisha | Over 17 Lakh Houses Constructed
Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana – The Odisha Government is has successfully completed the construction of 17 lakh affordable housing units under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana in the State. Whereas the state government has put the hoardings (claiming that 17 lakh houses have been constructed between 2014 and 2018) in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. These housing units include the houses constructed under various schemes.

A total number of 18, 90,000 housing units have been constructed by the Odisha Government under various schemes. These total number of housing units includes houses constructed under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Indira Awas Yojana (IAY).
BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapatra said that there is no doubt that the BJP led government has been constantly lying. The state government has highlighted the discrepancies in BPGY scheme earlier.
As per the data published on the official website of Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, the Odisha government has constructed a total number of 2,83, 897 housing units under BPGY, BPGY(Mining) & NSPGY schemes. Apart from this, a total number of 16,08,882 housing units have been constructed under IAY and PMAY-G schemes.
The target is to construct 7 lakh houses this year under a new model in hilly and backward areas for which the State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Roorkee-based CSIR-CBRI.
Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said that different designs of houses have been modelled. It which will help in constructing pucca houses in hilly and tribal areas. Therefore, there will be no problem in getting materials for such houses.
Apart from this, the Central Government has set a target of constructing a total number of 9.92 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) within 3 years, for the state government, only 4.96 lakh houses have been constructed so far. The deadline for housing construction will end in December this year.
