Now needy people can apply online for affordable housing under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) Urban from Today. The government’s aim is to include more people into the realm of the important programs.
However, more than two lakh Common Services Center (CSC) are available across the country, around 60 thousand located in urban areas where the people can apply for the scheme on cash payment of Rs. 25/-.
In this regard, the Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Ministry of Information Technology Common Services Centre of e-Governance Services India Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of concerned ministers M Venkaiah Naidu and Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday.
According to the MoU, the Common Services Centres will provide the receipt of application form submission whereby the beneficiaries can check the status of their application. The people can collect the information about PMAY Scheme from the nearest Common Service Centre. If the beneficiary does not have Aadhaar cards they can also apply through the e-KYC. This process of applying online e-KYC (know your customer) support, which means that it has been submitted after the application duly verified.
Naidu said that the government’s aim is to provide affordable housing to the people without any hindrance or difficulty. He also said direct online application delivery and application-related authority to take cognizance of the beneficiaries will be able to work faster.The participation of the urban local bodies in addressing problems related to the application through proper help and guidance and help to bring the urban poor under PMAY. Naidu insisted that Digital India mission is changing the country.
On this occasion, Naidu said that the Digita India Mission is transforming India. He said that the during the 2005-14 around 13.70 lakh urban poor approval was granted for affordable housing, the last year about 11 lakh houses had already been approved, and the numbers will also increase through the online application form submission.
The Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the CSC is the forerunner of Digital India mission. The various sections of the society are empowering through the skill and online services. The Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation Joint Secretary Amrit Abhijat and CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd CEO Dinesh Tyagi signed MOU.
