The Telangana Government has started a new pension scheme for the old people, widows, people suffering from HIV AIDS, Incapacitated weavers, Toddy Peppers and the handicapped people of the state. The name of this pension scheme is “Aasara Pension Scheme”. Under this scheme, the state government provides monthly pension to the most vulnerable sections of society to support their day to day minimum needs to be required to lead a life of dignity and social security.

Pension Amount Under Aasara Pension Scheme

Recently, Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao has doubled the monthly pension amount of Aasara Pension Scheme. CM increased the Monthly Pension amount from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2,016 and Rs. 1500 to Rs. 3,016. Here are the details of the new pension amount –

Eligibility Criteria For Aasara Pension Scheme in Telangana

All the needy people who are willing to avail the benefits of this monthly pension scheme in Telangana need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria –

Eligibility Criteria for Old Age

  • Age must be 65 years and above.
  • Must belong to Primitive and Vulnerable Tribal Groups
  • It can be availed by only one pension in a family, preferably women.
  • The agriculture laborers having no land, rural artisans/craftsmen slum dwellers, persons earning their livelihood on daily basis in the informal sector like porters, coolies, rickshaw pullers, handcart pullers, fruit / flower sellers, snake charmers, rag pickers, cobblers, destitute and other similar categories irrespective of rural or urban areas are eligible for this monthly pension scheme.
  • Those who are homeless, houseless households living in temporary informal establishments or huts especially in urban areas are also eligible for the scheme.
  • Families headed by widows or terminally ill persons/disabled persons /persons aged 65 years or more having no assured means of subsistence or societal support and able-bodied earning member.

Eligibility Criteria for Widows

  • Age of the girl (widow) must be at least 18 years and above.
  • Must belong to the Primitive and Vulnerable Tribal Groups
  • Families headed by widow women with no able-bodied earning members
  • This pension is given to only widow women
  • Families headed by widows or terminally ill persons/disabled persons /persons aged 65 years or more having no assured means of subsistence or societal support and able-bodied earning member.

Eligibility Criteria for Weavers

  • Age of the weavers must be 50 years and above
  • Must belong to Primitive and Vulnerable Tribal Groups
  • The pension will be given to only one person in a family
  • Person’s profession should be weaving, irrespective of rural or urban areas

Eligibility Criteria for Toddy Tappers

  • Age of the Toddy Tappers must be 50 years and above.
  • Must belong to Primitive and Vulnerable Tribal Groups
  • The pension will be given to only one pension in a family
  • The profession of the person must be Toddy Tapping, irrespective of rural or urban areas.
  • In case of For Toddy tapper pensions, the verification regarding whether the beneficiary is a registered member in the Co-Operative Society of Toddy Tappers could be made.

Eligibility Criteria for Disabled Person

  • There is no age limit for the Disabled Person pension under Aasara Scheme.
  • In case of Hearing Impaired, the minimum disability should be 51%.

Documents Required for Aasara Pension

  • Passport Size Photograph Of Applicant
  • Aadhar Number (3 Months Time Period is given to secure Aadhar Card).
  • Savings Bank Account Details.
  • Age Proof
  • Photograph & Death certificate of Husband in case of widows.
  • Copy of registration in the Cooperative society of Toddy Tappers.
  • Copy of registration in Co-operatives society of weavers.
  • SADAREM Certificate in Disabled Person Pension of 40% or above and 51% in respect of the hearing impaired.

How to Apply for Aasara Pension Scheme

  • Firstly, Download the Aasara pension Scheme application form from the Official website of respective Municipal Corporation. Besides this, you can also obtain the application form from your nearest MeeSeva Centre
  • Now, fill the application form and attach all the required documents (as mentioned above).
  • Submit the duly filled application form to your Gram Panchayat Secretary / Village Revenue Officer in the rural area and Bill Collector in Urban area.
  • After that, the Aasara Pension cards will be distributed for the relevant category by affixing the photo of the beneficiary after processing through Aasara online portal by Municipal Commissioner and finally by District Collector.

How to Search Aasara Pensioner Details

If you have already applied for the Aasara Pension Scheme, then you can also search for your name and other Aasara Pensioners Details Online through the Official Website of Aasara Pension – http://www.aasara.telangana.gov.in. For this, follow the following steps –

  • Firstly, visit the Official website i.e. http://www.aasara.telangana.gov.in
  • On the Homepage, go to quick search menu and select “Search Pensioner details”.
  • After that, you will be redirected to another page. Here you have toenter the Pension ID and click on search.
  • Apart from this, you can also search the Pensioners Details by an alternate method. For this, select your District > Mandal > Panchayat
  • After that, Enter the Pensioners Name and Head Of Family and finally hit the “Search” button.
  • Then, Pensioner Details will appear on your screen.

Distribution of Aasara Pensions

The Aasara Pension amount will be credited in the account between 1st to 7th of every month or the post offices. Apart from this, in rural areas where banks exist, the pension can be deposited shall be disbursed through biometric authentication from post offices.
